Training

Additional Information

The first step in training is hiring.

I fuck that up a lot.

In my defense it really is impossible to tell who is going to be great just by asking questions like, "what is your biggest fault?"

i just ask them if they can make it to work, do they expect any weekends off, and I try to figure out if they are going to fit in here.

because we are an interesting bunch, and we expect 2ork to get done.

The real interview is the first day on the job.

Mostly when I used to train people i would spend a few minutes walking around the shop and showing them mostly what we sell.

Then  i try to have them do things.

They ought to be able to sell a tart after seeing it once.

After they see an ice cream cone being served, put the scoop into their hands and say "here".

Watch to see if they are competent and see if they have a second gear.

If they are going to stand behind you nodding their head, or if they are going to jump in and be productive.
